  • 1.  Getting warnings about SEPM not updating Centralized Reputation Settings

    I upgraded our two SEPM servers to 12.1.2 about 2-3 weeks ago and I just started getting warnings stating that "Antivirus and antispyware definitions Win64 11.0 MicroDefsB.CurDefs failed to update" and in the error description it says "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could not update Centralized Reputation Settings 12.1 RU2."

    I checked the liveupdate downloads and it says that the Centralized Reputation Settings 12.1 RU2 have not been downloaded since August 13, 2012 which makes it evern more surprising that I am only now getting these warning messages.

    I tried downloading liveupdate content and everything succeeds except the Centralized Reputation Settings 12.1 RU2 and does not give me an other error information other than 'could not update'.

    Is anyone else having this problem in 12.1.2?

    Thanks for the quick response. The only problem is that my servers are setup to send e-mails for warnings and above on system and replication errors. Is changing the severity of the e-mails to error and above the only way to eliminate the e-mails about the reputation settings not updating?

    HI,

    I hope there i no way , Email notifiaction setting preconfigured.

    You can try to change severity level.

    We have also started to see this message.

    The issue isn't that the definitions are old - I understand that they don't get updated as often.  The issue is that this one particular update has started failing with the message:

    Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could not update Centralized Reputation Settings 12.1 RU2.

     

    We have been running 12.1.2015.2015 for months.  Nothing has changed that I am aware of.  The update started failing two days ago.  All other definitions are updating fine.

    We started seeing this error yesterday as well.  Hope there is a fix coming soon.

    From the article:

    Problem



    The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) shows that LiveUpdate was successful but says "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could not update Centralized Reputation Settings 12.1".

    You may also see Event Viewer warnings with the same information.


    Error



    The Log.LiveUpdate file shows the following errors (snippet):

    Unknown function name GetSiloID was used

    PreCondition evaluation aborted with error code 5

    Aborted patch with EES code: LU1849; Product: SEPM Iron Settings v12.1

     

    In the SEPM under Admin -> Servers -> Local Site you see the following entry in the mini log section on the bottom-right. This mini log only shows the last 10 Server Activity entries.

    Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could not update Centralized Reputation Settings 12.1 <RU version>.

     

    You can view a more expansive list of the SEPM logs by going to Monitors -> Logs and selecting Log Type: "System" and Log Content: "Server Activity" and hitting the View Log button. Here you'll see the same error as listed above.


    Solution



    This issue has been resolved.
