  • 1.  Fail uploading chipset driver ICH8id2

I am trying to upload a chipset driver ich8 for our Dell Optiplex 745's. The chipset driver fails everytime.

1 driver(s) were attempted for import. 0 driver(s) were successfully imported.
    Detailed Results :
Failed to import driver: \\ServerName\nscap\bin\win32\x86\deployment\temp\drivers\all\ich8id2.inf [Failed to find any drivers to add.]

I notice the upload fails, and the drivers.manifest.txt updates itself without any additional information added tot he text file. I was able to successfully add Audio, Video, and Ethernet drivers no problem. What makes this chispet driver different from the others?

    Hi,

    Cause:

It is missing the .sys file.

As for now, Drivermanager does not import drivers that do not contain .sys files.

    Solution:

1 - If possible, contact the vendor(Dell) and try to find a driver package that includes the .sys file

2 - Log a case with Technical Support, a point-fix may be available.

    Thank you

    Mauro
