    Hi All,

I need your help in designing SMP 7.1 implementation for using Arellia Application Control Solution.
I have 1500 systems in LAN (one building) and 500 home users.
I want to implement a HA/Fail Over for the same.

Please let me know the system requirements and how to install in HA mode.

    Thanks & Regards
    Vamsi

In a failover or disaster recovery situation the easiest thign to do is keep the database backed upor use SQL log shipping to mirror it, point all your clients to a DNS alias you can edit to failover and have a reserve SMP server built and kept up to date with solution updates.

Don't have any local packages on the SMP server.

Altiris 7.1 is not an HA-aware application, and thus it does not support HA/failover active-active or active-passive mode. For our environment, we have a set of cold backup servers that support our SMP and ServiceDesk server. In an outage situation, we have to restore the environment using these cold backup machines restored using full and incremental backups of our production servers. It is not the ideal situation because it requires so much manual intervention, but it is the best we can do given the fact the limitation is in the application.
