  • 1.  export unmanaged client install package

    Hello,

I have a question about creating an unmanaged client install package (symantec endpoint protection 12.1 RU1 MP1)...  We have some remote users who never connect to our domain.    If I export an unmanaged client install package from the SEPM server will it have full funtionality?  I can't find any info about exporting unmanaged install packages.  According to the documentation, unmanaged clients should be installed using the installation CD, and then the license file must be manually imported on the client computers to enable the submission of reputation data.

If I use the SEPM to export an unmanaged client install package, does the license file still need to be manually imported on each machine?  Is there any reason why I would want to install from the CD for unmanaged clients instead of creating an unmanaged client install package?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

For SEP 12.1 unmanaged client, licensing is required. If we install unmanaged client Sonar, IRON and other new features do not work. To enable the submission of reputation data from an unmanaged client, you must install a paid license on the client. Use the following procedure to install a license on an unmanaged client.

Got it.  So regardless of the media used (CD vs exported package) all unmanaged clients require the license file to be imported.  Thank you for that clarification.

Is there a way to verify if an unmanaged client computer has had the license file imported?  I want to be able to confirm that other Admins here comply with that requirement (i.e. - that they don't forget that step)
