  • 1.  Endpoint Protection 12.1 Could not start service error 1920, 64 bit machine

    Hi, 

    I am having Windows 2k3 64 Bit Machine, Could not restart service error, when I try to repair I get error 1406 and 1920. 

    I will really appreciate any help.

    Hello,

    A Similar issue has been rectified in the Latest SEP 12.1 RU1, check the Release Notes Article:

    "Error 1920. Service Symantec Migration Service (SEPMasterServiceMig) failed to start" when upgrading from SSEP 5.1 client to SEP 12.1 client
    Fix ID:     2439998
    Symptom: When upgrading clients from SSEP 5.1 to SEP 12.1, an intermittent error occurs. This error occurs when an older version of the dll remains on the system and is attempted to be loaded by a newer version of the driver.
    Solution: Changed the upgrade logic to rename sysfer.dll on upgrade, preventing this error.

    I would recommend you to Migrate to the Latest Version of SEP 12.1 RU1.

    upgrade to the latest version i.e. SEP 12.1 RU 1 as this is error will be gone after upgrade.

    I am sorry I missed some aspects in my last post... I am unable to uninstall the software as well and it is giving fatal error in installation,, error while removing... I asked Symantec support but they have given me a manual of thousand lines to uninstall the software... I am looking, is there an easy way...

    I will appreciate any help... thanks

    Hi Abdus,

     

    Use Cleanwipe tool to remove SEP12.1 and install Latest 12.1RU1

    Please do the following

    1. Click Start
    2. Click Run.
    3. Type regedit
    4. Click OK.
    5. Navigate to the following subkeys:
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services
         
    6. For each of these keys, ensure that "Administrator", "Administrators" and "System" have Full Control.
