If your system communicate with Server after long time then it will create a new entry. You can simply delete the entry which are not communicating with Server.

Simply you can configure the below setting in server. so that all not communicate entry will auto remove.

    Step

    • In the console, click Admin, and then click Servers.

    • Under Servers, select the Local Site(My Site).

    • Under Tasks, click Edit the Local site properties.

    • On the General tab, Check the Delete Clients that have not connected for

    • Set the day as per your requirement.
    • Click OK.

      Hope it helpful to you.

    Hi,

Some reason for the duplicate entry

First - You are using image CD for the OS installation

Second - OS/SEP client has been corrupted and reinstall in system

Third - System getting communicate with Server after the long period. Due to that new HWID file has been generated. Old entry will pending display on Server.

you can manually delete the duplicate entry. when a system gets formatted and sep installed again a new entry is added so you have to manually remove the old entry.

    Hi,

By default duplicate hardware ID remains in the database for 30 days, you can change settings to 1 day to remove it permanently.

Reasons are already explained by others.

You should refer following KB for more info.

Best solution so far. The only draw back is for the clients that are not communicating to the server - they will be gone unless they get a successful connection in the future. I recommend that you export a Computer Status log first so you'll have a list of clients before the cleanup.

I used to manually delete these clients on my spare time. Export a list, then sort by hardware ID, then by IP address, then by connection date (descending). Then use the search option in the clients view. And manually delete. Very time consuming.
