I am new to SEP. WE used to use AVG Before this. We have a policy to block USB.  Will it also block the charging of the device.

I am sure it should not, but wanted a confirmation.

No, that is not possible to achieve right now.

SEP does not offer that level of control when blocking. You can add this suggestion to the "Ideas" sections for forum for development team to consider when creating future releases.

So we can say that if we have blocked access to iPhone/ Smart phone from connecting to ourcomputer using device control ploicy , even charging is blocked.

Devices such as Androids, iPods, cameras and other types of portable devices will not be able to get charged.  On newer operating systems such as Windows Vista, Windows 7 and 2008 the operating system will allow the devices to receive power even if they are disabled.

I have written  an article on this, it is yet to published. It has all the infrmation and and the explnation needed.

But the Bottom line is if USB is blocked, charging would not work.

The only work around is either exclude the iPhones from the block list or use alternate source of charging.
