We are running Symantec Endpoint Protection, Version 11.  A lot of our computers are laptops that spend considerable time on the road.  These may not touch our network for 60 to 90 days at a pop.  The standard setting of keeping clients alive in the listing for 30 days needs to be changed to something that more accurately represents our client-base.  How can I change that 30 day setting?  New to Symantec and am trying to feel my way around.  Thanks.

Thumbs up to Sumit G. 's suggestion!

These clients will be deleted once data sweep takes place. Data sweep runs everyday at midnight.

    Definite thumbs up!

Mind you, when they come back on network, if they've been deleted from the database, they should still check in again with no issue.

    I agree with Samit suggestion.

Apart from this, would like to ask Rhkay that- whether you have different location policy for your roaming users or not. Its important to have separate location policy for roaming users so that they can take defs update even if they are away (not able to connect to SEPM) and at least connected to Internet.

    Hello,

    A Similar Thread:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/inactive-clients

By default, clients that have not connected will remain within the SEPM for 30 days before being removed from the database.

However, I too Agree with Sumit.

    Hope that helps!!

Some customers will also implement a SEPM in the DMZ for this condition, and ask clients to switch to it with location switching.  This allows tracking and management for remote clients.  This is an advanced technique.

Hopefully the clients are set to use direct internet live update, so they continue to get def updates when they are remote?
