Clients are adding to wrong group

  • 1.  Clients are adding to wrong group

    Posted Jun 28, 2011 01:07 AM

    Hi,

    We are using SEP11.0.6005.562

We have not updated any patch or service pack on the server recently.

We have iontegrated with Microsoft Active Directory long back.

I'm facing following issues in my environment

    1. Clients are not getting updates from the SEP server from June 21st 2011
    2. Even though I'm creating installation package in computer mode, it is installing user mode.
    3. Newly installed clients are adding to wrong groups.

    Example:
If I install a package of LAPTOS group, immediately if you see in CLIENT CONSOLE -> HELP AND SUPPORT -> TROUBLESHOOTING -> MANAGEMENT -> GENRAL INFORMATION -> GROUP it is showing MY COMPANY/LAPTOPS. But after 2 minutes it is showing different users group and after 5 minutes it is showing SERVERS group.

is the clients in user mode , you might see this kind of issue. You can use the reconnection preference and enable the settings for clients not to move to different group and its client mode.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

The Tech Support Engineer has been used  reconnection preference and it is not working.

    We didn't defined locations.

The Tech Support Engineer is changing manually user mode to computer mode one-by-one.

We have 2000 computers. I don't know how much time it will take.

Is there any possibility to change multiple computers from user mode to computer mode?

We have updated the SEPM to 11.0.6200. But still problems are persisting.

    SEPM is downloading latest updates.

Please help us. 2000+ computers are running with 21st June updates.

    Hi,

You can do this with the help of Move client utility.

    It's VBS script.

You will find it under downloaded setup files, path would be Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.6_MP3_Xplat_EN_DVD\Tools\NoSupport\MoveClient_Utility

You will find PDF file also for more details.

    Hi,

    Check basic things

1)Check whetehr SEPM is updated or not, check show liveupdate download status

    2) Check SEPM and SEP clients are receiving correct policy.

    3) Symantec Endpoint Protection: Troubleshooting Client/Server Connectivity

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH105894&locale=en_US

It's happening for all the clients or random ?

    Hi,

    1. SEPM is updating properly.

    2. SEP clients are not getting correct policy and new clients are adding to wrong group

    3. Client/Server communication is checked and it is working fine (checked PING with FQDN from client as well as from Server, BROWSER and TELENT)

    Hi,

Check SEPM liveupdate policy, check liveupdate content settings

Check under content settings use latest available option is selected.

IF possible create new liveupdate policy and assign it to groups.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I've removed GUP configuration and created non-shared policies for all groups and it started working fine.
