Loaded Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1 on a new server. Then, Installed Client package on one of our computers, but the client pointed back to the old server that is still running Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005.562. We need it to run until we decommsion it. It shows in the old console that I updated to the new 12.1.1 client package. I can't figure out how to point it to the new server running 12.1.1.  Can I delete the client out off the old system and restart the computer? Would the new server see it then? Not sure how to handle this. Any help would be appeciated.

    Hi,

When you are exporting package, you must switch the option "Remove all logs, communication settings.." from Installation Settings under Admin/Install Packages/ tab and export package with this installation settings you created.

If you leave it default, old clients with SEP 11 still connecting the old SEPM

did you export the packge as managed from SEPM 12.1 and also did you check the tick to remove the communication and client policy as from earlier post.

I do not think I clicked on 'Remove all previous logs and policies, and reset the client-server communications settings.' I will redeploy the client install package and let you know what happens.

    HI,

When you wiill be create New Package you can Select this setting after you will deploy SEP client.

After this setting your client not be showing old server.

Ok...new server sees the client. I did what you guys suggested but need to clarify something. Since I updated the client the first time without selecting 'Remove all previous logs and policies, and reset the client-server communications settings' it still looked back at the old server when I re-installed with the new client package. So I ended up uninstalling Symantec from the client computer, and re-installed again. That's when the new server saw the client. My question is... Would I need to uninstall Symantec on all computers before I do the update, or will it take care of itself now that I have the correct install package.
