  • 1.  Changing the communication port of the SEP

    Hi,

I would like to change the communication port of the SEPM with the clients, I've seen that the port is 8014 on the SEP RU5 and I read the KB http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/0/3b6ea354c7908a7b882574f9005dd7fc?OpenDocument. So what i would like to know if there is anything else that I sould be aware before change this port, and just to confirm is the port 8014 that the sep use to distribuit definitions for the clients, I checked this kb about ports http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007090614430148

    Thanks

clients communicate on port 8014 ( by default) with the server, this is the only port for updates until yo have configured GUP's. As also suggested in the article ensure the clients knows the communication port of the Server (SEPM).

Is there anyway like to keep mutiples ports for SEPM, I'm asking because I got an environment with 700 SEP and I know for more that I try to have everyone Online on the day that I will change the port always has people that is not with the PC ON or is travelling. What I would like to know if anyone has tryed to configure more than on port because at the IIS i can have, and insade of the SEP I've seen that is possible to add new server and set the port i did not try to add the same server but with differents ports. The only thing I do not know if is possible at the Tomcat to have mutiple ports.

Just want any clue because I want like to keep the old port let say for more 2 weeks before change, is because I got a lot people on the road.
If anyone has tryed that and could share with me the experience would be great.

    Thanks

No , you can't have 2 ports for one SEPM

The kind of requirment that you have it is better to create LOCATIONS in SEPM

One in house location and the other outside location for people on the roads who all are travelling.
