You don't have permission to access "http://esdownload.symantec.com/CD/MTV/Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_Small_Business_Edition_12.1.601.4699_Tools_EN.zip" on this server.

    Hello Dr. Bratland,

I see you were trying to download the Tools.  I just tried to download the same file and was able to do so.  Couple of questions for you.

    • Were you able to download anything else from the downloads page?
    • Did the Java based download window open up for you?
    • What Internet Browser are you using?

    Let me know.

I was able to remedy this issue by going to this link:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/theme.jsp?themeid=sep12-beta

and logging in with my SymAccount ID and password.

You have to ensure that you do not right click the "Download Now" links on the page.  Doing so usually results in the "Access Denied" error.  Left-Click on the "Download Now" link and allow the pop-up page to load.  You can then click on the links on those page to download the Beta.

I got the error as well but got around it.

I don't remember exactly what I did to download it but I know I had to log in before it worked.  After that I attempted to use the download manager but it failed every time.  I had success downloading without the manager.

Very good point.  I believe there is another thread going where somone tried the right-click "Save Link As".

    Thanks for pointing this out.

The java download client doesn't work.  use the alternate method here that appears in the little pop-up box.

Works everytime, and resolves all issues,

    :

"Should the Download Manager fail to start, or if you do not accept the security certificate, you can click here to download the file without using the download manager."

    Went to: http://www.symantec.com/business/theme.jsp?themeid=sep12-beta
Clicked on JOIN THE BETA button under SEP SBE section
"Symantec Marketing Campaigns" Window popped open URL: https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=113020
Clicked on the DOWNLOAD BETA button at the bottom
T&C page came up.  I clicked on the I AGREE button.
Entered my SymAccount login credentials then pressed LOGIN button
The Window blinks briefly then just sits there.  No errors etc...

    Note: I added symantec.com, www.symantec.com, and www4.symantec.com to the browser's pop-up blocker exception list.
I tried this in both Firefox 4 and IE 9 on my Windows 7 64bit PC

    Eric,

Thanks for the help.  I tried to click on several of the downloads- all the same response not letting me download.  No Java application download.  I'm using Windows Internet Exporer.

    Thanks, Mike

Please go to http://go.symantec.com/sep12beta ; choose if you want to download SEP or SEP SBE and click on "Join the Beta".  Please follow the instructions to download,  You need to sign in with your SymAccount or please create one if you don't.

When our current public beta registrants received an email to download, they are being taken to the download page bypassing the SymAccount Login.  If the registrant had the SymAccount on the computer he/she is trying to download, then it works.  If not, the SymAccount is trying to authenticate the user.

We are resending the email to current public beta registrants so they will be taken to the correct download page.  You can use the top link to get there, too.  Thank you!

    Hi John,

Can you try this link? http://go.symantec.com/sep12beta and choose the product you want to download, and click "Join the Beta."  You will need your SymAccount to access the download just like you would with a trialware download.

    Thanks,

    Cindy

John, did you get this error when you are trying to log into SymAccount, or after you logged in when you are trying to download?  If it's the first one, maybe the Symantec site is temporarily down.  I suggest trying it tomorrow monring or at your PC at work- at least see if it gets you to the download page.  If it's the 2nd one, skip the download manager and use the link on the bottom of the download instruction page.

I just signed myself out and resigned myself into the SymAccount.  clicked on the download manager link in the pop-up window as well as the link that allows you to download directly without the download manager, they both worked for me.

Maybe double check your login info.  Can you input your email address and have the system resend you a password and use that to log in? Do you see the pop-up window that gives you 2 choices to download?

Hi, we are looking into this.  cus000, could you please do me a favor.  Click on "forgot password" link when you get to the SymAccount log in page, type in the email address you used to create your SymAccount profile and have the system resend you a password.  Use that new password to log in.   you can always reset your password later.  Let me know if that gets you in.

    Hi John,

I know you just created the SymAccount just yesterday.  Could you please try this: clicking on "forgot your password" link and type in the email address you used to create your SymAccount profile, and have the system send you a new password.  Try logging in with that and see if it gets you in.  You can always reset your password later.   Thanks!

    Hi Cindy,

Tried to reset password as well but still no joy...is there any access level restriction or this Beta is open to all SymAccount holder?

Can i register and download using non-Symantec email account?

    Regards

John, when you logged into SymAcount with your PC at work, even when you close your computer, the Symantec system remembers you so the next time you visit, you don't have to sign in again.  You need to manually "sign out" on the top right hand corner.  If you are trying to log in from your home PC, please make sure you are signed out of your work PC?  I'm not sure why this would make a difference; but worth a try.

Also, John, which country are you dowloading the beta from?  Currently the beta portal prevents you from downloading if you are in one of the restricted countries.

    Hi cus000,

Really sorry to hear this.  Which country are you trying to download beta from?  We do have access restriction for certain countries.  Also, if you have successfully logged into SymAccount on a different PC before; make sure you are manually "sign out" on the top right corner from that PC.

If you have created/logged into SymAccount a while go, you may want to explore the option of creating a new SymAccount.  It should only take a couple of minutes of your time.

    Thank you,

    Cindy

Now I can get to the download selections.  When I pick any of the four, the Download Manager comes up, askes for the location to save the file to, looks like it is starting the transfer, then errors out with a small messagebox containing the following text:

    Download integrity is invalid.
Try to download a fresh copy of the URL.
Would you like to start over?
    Yes | No

If I click Yes, it just errors out again immediately with the same message.

Neither the Java-based download manager, nor clicking the direct link will do anything more than grab a few thousand bytes before slowing to a crawl and then hanging.

Running Windows XP SP3, using Firefox as a browser, saving files to locally attched NAS.

    Any suggestions?

Better yet, send me a full copy on a DVD...

The only two suggestions I can give is if you are behind a firewall/proxy that may be using a a/v scanner, I have personally had issues when downloading large files through these.  Try getting a unrestricted Internet connection.  Also, if you are downloading and saving to the NAS in parallel, remember that it first caches the files to your local computer then sends to the NAS, many times showing only 10-15kbs download but after the time it would take to download, say 10 minutes on a 25 meg line, it instantly transfers to there NAS at around 100 meg.
