can't delete old packages

  • 1.  can't delete old packages

    Hello!

I 'am missing the entry called "Install Packages" in the Protection Manager, any idea how to fix that? Or how do I delete obsolete packages now?
Its Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1.1101.401

I have another customer where there is no "Small Business" in the Manager title and there is the missing tab together with Domains and Servers which are missing above as well.

    Regards, Sven

Yes I have, there is only 1 user. And I do know that the tabs where there before I upgraded från 11.x to 12.x, but when the customer had ver. 11 it was the regular SEP not the Small Business Edition

    Hello,

Since you are Running SEP Small Business Edition 12.1,  it does not have a "Install Packages" TAB. This is by design.

    Check this Thread: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-deployment-install-packages-tab-clients

Also, check this Article on Few Difference between the 12.1 Enterprise Edition and Small Business Edition.

    Hope that helps!!

Thanks, I suspected somehting like that because everything is working as expected. But now comes the question how do I get rid of old packages? I have already 3 packages there and lets say when v.13 comes it might be 10. I expected that upgrade.bat cleaned out the old packages but that did not happen.

    Hello,

Could please provide me the location path of these packages? Probably a screenshot would be good.

    Hi,

    Go to C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\ClientPackages\

You will find alphanumberical folders (1b42208a6dc8ff67b9a65370351a0457) click on each folder, then go to folder by name "Full", then go to SetAid.notepad.

Open SetAid file, check for line ClientVersion

Please let me know which client versions are present there.

    Hi,

    Check till date releases

    http://bit.ly/m0vOJp

    SEP 12.1.1101.401 i.e RU1 MP1 is the latest version.

You can delete packages other than MP1 but you may see errors while running liveupdate.

You will have to ignore it.

I hope it will answer your query.

    Hello,

    EDIT:

I believe you talking about the packages you see in the - C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\ClientPackages\

Upgrade packages are stored in the database. Each of these upgrade packages requires up to 180 MB of database space, so you should delete the older software upgrade packages that you no longer need. You do not delete packages from the file system; they are only deleted from the database. Therefore, you can add them again if you need them at some future date.

    Hope that helps!!

My apologies but there are NO "Tasks" under Admin. Maybe you have a different console than I have?
