Cannot login to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console

  • 1.  Cannot login to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console

         For some background, I have had trouble with some annoying "Unexpected server error. ErrorCode: 0x10010000" events.  To attempt and fix this issue, I ran the Management Server Configuration Wizard (which I saw, in various forums, could remedy this error code).  I went through the wizard and selected embedded database (since this is what I have always used for my database) placed a password for my database and left the rest of the settings at the default.  Now when I attempt to login to the Management Console, I get the message "Failed to connect to the server" and I cannot do anything. 
         When I try and run the Management Server Configuration Wizard again, I cannot get past the place where it asks me for my port that the embedded database server uses.  I have tried the various ports that I thought it should be and left the default.  How do I find out the port that my embedded database uses?  Or how do I fix this current issue?  Thanks.

    SEPM to Embedded database communication port is TCP 2638

    I have tried port 2638 and I receive the same error: "The server port you chose is not used by the database server.  You must choose the port that the embedded database server uses.  Thanks.

     Make sure Symantec Embedded Database service is started 
    check the port number from
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASANYs_sem5\Parameters

    on the right hand side double click on paramaters key and the port number will be in the end of the value.

         Thanks for your help.  I did as you instructed and indeed the end value on that registry key is 2638.  But I still get the same error message when I try and run Management Server Configuration Wizard and use that value as my port number.   How do I check that the databse service is started?  Is that through the IIS?

    Open Computer Management, Services and check for "Symantec Embedded Database" service

    I started the Symantec Embedded Database service and now I can run the Management Server Configuration Wizard.  The database is reestablishing now.  On the first login to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console, the login works and everything seems to be back to normal.  Thank you all so much.

    I am having the same problem as LoRdiE above.

    I get this in my event viewer:

    On trying to start the service in Services I get a message that says:

    "The Symantec Embedded Database service started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do."

    How do I fix this?

    Urgent.
