Endpoint Protection

Dear All!

I recently upgraded manager 11 to 12.1, I ran into a few errors, so I decided to reinstall the whole management service. I uninstalled everything, and started from a fresh install with 12.1. I didn't import the database, only the keyfile, so the clients will reconnect to the server.

Everything went fine, until I tried to export the packages, that's what I've got:

And it goes on forever. No errors, no nothing. It creates a 160Mb folder with the following files in it:

packlist.xml
setAid.ini
Setup.ini
SyLink.xml
VDefs.zip

I've attached the whole server log files.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The installation might be corrupted, Do a repair from ADD/remove programs; after it completes configuring management server configuration wizard; u should be able to export the package 

Already did that. No change, still stops at "Retrieving the package data from the management server..."

clear all temp files and try exporting it again !

Your C drive should have proper permission 

check this discussion ; do u see the group listed?

Temp folder cleaned, permissions Everyone - R/W

Group listed as it should.

Export still stuck.

additional info: everything is working as it should, clients connect, green dot on, client upgrade from the console works. only export does not.

are you limited admin or full admin which creating the package?

does that create if you log in to windows as different user?

Local admin - stuck

domain admin - stuck

other domain admin - stuck

on my client computer from java console - stuck

Not sure where the problem lies, 

try adding Authenticated Users to C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\

did you try saving it to other drives?

how about we create a test group and then export the package with rules of test group?

authenticated user already there, test group - still stucks

other drive - stuck

it will be a complete server reinstall with OS too, tomorrow :)

Reinstall didn't do the trick!

I enabled fine logging, the only error that appears is this:

download a fresh copy of the package and apply all patch: wondering what else could be wrong :) 

what do you mean exactly, what package, and what patch?

p.s.: is IIS still needed for 12.1?

NO, IIS not needed for 12.1

I ment to download a new copy from the filconnect website;

Patch I ment was windows patch

as I pointed out earlier, I did a full OS reinstall full windows update and a full manager reinstall, everything freshly downloaded from the appropriate licensing websites :)

exporting still stuck.

We use a proxy server here, could it anyhow disturb this process?

UPDATE: some database error it was, even tough I started with a fresh database. After I make a new group, it can export the setup.exe from that group.

recreating all groups now and copying policy... funny: database validation, etc, all passed..

after a day, I cannot export packages from the newly created groups too.

I'm out of ideas.

got a final solution.

the last error was because IE's Enhanced security configuration was enabled. I disabled it, and everything is fine
