  • 1.  can I combine two license files on one SEPM

    Posted Jun 05, 2012 04:47 PM

Hello -  I was previously in a unit that had their own SEP (with 2500 licenses).  I recently went to a new group that ALSO has their own SEP (with 1500 licenses).  I merged both our SEPMs into one - specificaly - the one with 2500 licenses at v12 - merged with the one that has 1500 licenses at v11. (I had to do it this way instead of merging 11 to the v12 because of office politics)  I am now getting an over-deployment message.  how do i combine both of our license files into one?  Should i update the v11 to v12 and then add the license key file??

    thanks

    Hello,

SEP 11.x doesnt required any licenses files  however SEP 12.1 requires licenes to active the product.

Do you have one SEPM to managed all clients or two different SEPM?

If you have one SEPM 12.1 managing all clients including 11.x and 12.x  so that might be the reason you are getting over deployment message.

Recommentation: Upgrade all the SEPM and SEP clients to 12.1

You can go to your licensing portal and upgrade

    Hello,

You are receiving this Over Deployment Message as SEPM 12.1 bases its license count on the total number of managed clients , regardless of whether they are 12.1 or 11.0.x.

    Check this Article:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH178829

You could not Merge 2 License in 1. However, I would suggest you to upgrade your SEP11 license to SEP12 online

    Check the Article:

How to upgrade your SEP11 license to SEP12 online

Once the Upgrade of License is done, you can download the Latest SEP 12.1 License and Install the same on SEPM which would now carry 2 Licenses [Old SEP 12.1 (2500) and New SEP 12.1 (1500)] making them to 4000 Licenses.

You can Later Activate your License from SEPM. Check this:
