The Symantec Data Loss Prevention (Vontu) login page on the Enforce server throws an error if you use a browser other than IE or Firefox, which sucks because we have a lot of Mac (Safari) users in our organization. Is support for Safari/Chrome coming any time soon? If not, is there a way to bypass the browser check?

Here is what the error looks like:

    Unsupported Browser

Please make sure that you are using one of the following Browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher
  • Mozilla Firefox version 1.5 or higher (Linux)

Hmm, there's no way (that I know of at least) to bypass the browser check. The best bet would be to download some kind of addon for Chrome/Safari to act in "compatibility mode" for Firefox. I'm not even sure if such an addon exists.

What version of DLP are you using?

I just did a quick search for those plugins and they don't exist (as I expected)...I guess you'll just have to download Firefox on those PCs that need to manage Enforce.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your help but I don't want to tell users to download plugins/alternate browsers :(

I'm going to be immature and say: this sucks!

The DLP 11 doesn't support Safari too, and, there are no roadmap to add the support for Safari.

And, the DLP 11 doesn't support IE6 any more.

Well I understand IE 6 'cause the security is pretty dated...but man...Safari's not even in the roadmap sad
