  • 1.  Are these services normal, and where to get more info....

Please look at the screenshots below and tell me if these are normal.

I see changes, and wondering a bit if this is proper, and if there is info on these, and information on WHY the changes?

I am questioning these as the server this shot is from had a Microsoft vs. VMWare issues with the MS updates that took place on it this weekend. The SEP 12.1 RU1 upgrade over 11.0.7 got caught in the middle, and the VM server lost it's NIC.

For 11.0.7 there are 5 services. SNAC is marked disabled, the others all AUTOMATIC (and started)

this is the server where the mess-up in the upgrades, etc. took place - SEP 12.1 RU1 is running on it now - after some repairs to the OS and restarts...this is 12.1 RU1 - why only 3 services, and the SNAC is now set to manual, and the Symantec MANAGEMENT client is also set to manual, yet started. Why not automatic?

Further, if the Management client is set to manual, what starts this service?

Were the other services merged into the SEP client itself? Seems I read something about that somewhere but can't recall where.

Thanks for any info, leads to documentation, and any explanations.

    Hello ShadowsPapa,

The services you listed in your second screenshot are all that are required for a SEP 12.1 client.

The status of the services of my local SEP 12.1 client (i.e., which were started) and the startup type (e.g., Disabled, Automatic, or Manual) match what you have exactly.

You should be fine, unless you're having a specific problem with the SEP client.

    Regards,

    James

Yes there are services for SEP client as others ( in SEP 11 ).

As far SMC is concerned, it is dependent on Symantec Endpoint Protection hence it starts after the SEP service is started even it is set to manual.
