What's the SEPM version? Run the symhelp tool on it to check for problems

    Can you post scm-server-0.log.

    scm-server log is following location:

    C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\logs\scm-server-0.log

Why is Apache failing? Navigate to your installation folder of SEPM: ..\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\apache\logs Rename both of your log files and delete the httpd.pid file. Restart the Symantec services or the machine (reboot) whichever you prefer and give us a snippet of the log files to determine why Apache is crashing. Also, do you have a second instance of Apache installed on this machine that could be conflicting?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

    Please attach scm-server-0 & scm-server-1 and catalina.out file.

As everyone suggested try to repair the SEPM as well.

If possible try to repair with the help of downloaded setup.exe.

Do you see any error in the event viewer?

    Hi,

Why you are not able to attach those three files?

At the bottom of the thread do you see three options? File attachments, Subscriptions & Notifications?

If it's a latest version of SEPM i.e. SEPM 12.1 RU3 then you can download it from https://symantec.flexnetoperations.com. if version is prior to RU3 and you don't have a setup.exe then support team can make it available to download through FTP.

Can you check system eventviewer? Start --> Run -->  eventvwr

I'd also recommend checking the applciation log for any windows events related to why the SEPM Web Server service is failing.  Please post these too when you have a chance.

Oddly enough, someone else has also recently created a thread regarding Apache errors:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/apache-not-start

This was apparently resolved by following my post in the below thread:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/apache-will-not-start-sepm-121

I'd like to ascertain if you're encountering the same problem.

So, now that you know that Apache is failing... Can we fix it? This machine is server 2003 from previous logs. Do you have any other Apache server running on this machine? Apache is 'built-in" to SPEM. So, as a service, it will start after a registered service, such as a "stand-alone" installed Apache server. If Apache has been installed on this server, you should be able to find it under "services" in windows. If you see there an instance of Apache 2, you can set it's properties to "manual" and "stop" the service. Once the second Apache is stopped (first to the system, because SEPM apache is not registered as "stand-alone") you can restart the SEPM service or reboot the server - whichever is easiest for you. This should likely resolve your issue.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting required logs here:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/my-semp-not-coming-and-apache-http-encountered-problem#comment-9356101

In the catalina.out following information is given.

"[TraceMgr] Opening log file C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat/logs\ajaxswing.log
Protecting dada/output/agent folder with ACLs ...
    Missing property: scm.db.datasource.
Server is not configured correctly, please run Server Configuration Assistant!"

    You must repair the SEPM.

    Hi,

You will have to use same version i.e. SEP 12.1, can not use SEP 12.1 RU3.

First, simply try to repair using add/remove programs. Go to the add/remove program, select SEPM and then click on repair.

If any file is missing or corrupt then in that case you will required original setup file.

In that case if you don't have setup file then log a web case with the support and ping me the case number.

I will try to make it available for you on FTP.

How to create a new case in MySupport

    Hi,

Good to know login issue has resolved.

Can you try to run liveupdate manually on the SEPM installed machine?

    Go to Start --> Run --> Luall.exe

If faced any error then need to check internet connectivity between SEPM and Symnatec liveupdate server.

    Hi,

After running liveupdate manually does it show the latest definitions on the home page?

Could you please restart the SEPM installed machine, if possible.
