Altiris Console ActiveX

I hope someone can help. I am having issues trying to edit collections (Applies to Collections) or Package name in any Software delivery tasks. If I try to edit the Package I get the error: "Error loading Activex Control.......", and if I try to edit the collection I get the error: "An error has occurred in the script on this page." It appears they are both linked to Activex issues and that they have suddenly appeared after installing NS 6.0 SP3 R13 (KB50726), though a few other updates were also installed (KB46763, KB25949). I have searched the forums but not come accross anyone else who has had the same issue. Can anyone help? Thanks for your time Paul

even remotely, you will see this error. There was an updated active x component that will require you to reboot the system, load the new active-x (if you haven't already) and maybe reboot again. Again, I've seen this for any system using the console. If you didn't have the console open, you should be prompted to install the new active-x control.

    Hi Jim,

many thanks for such a swift reply. Unfortunately I have no idea whether the console was open or not as it wasn't me who ran the update. One of my colleagues did the upgrade and has now gone on holiday. The only reason I know which updates were done was by going through the event log.

I'll try you reboot method and see what happens. Is there a way of getting hold of the cab file for R13 that I can download separately in case that's the issue?

Internet Options -> Advanced -> Enable Native XMLHTTP Support (may vary by version). Also, if running IE 8, ensure you're running compatibility mode.

We are running IE6 which is an ActiveX install (wouldn't you know it) of XMLHTTP. I've also tried it on IE7 with this option set but still no fix.
We don't use IE8 in our environment.

I'm open to any suggestions so if you have any more ideas plerase let me know.

controls (C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files or from within IE itself), and clearing out the Temp Internet Files. Reload the browser and hopefully you get prompted to install the correct ones.

If I try to edit the 'Applies to Collections' I'm prompted to install the ActiveX components but they never appear to install correctly as it prompts 'every time' I try to edit it. I also receive the same error messages even after selecting 'Install Now'

    Any ideas?

I managed to fix the problem at last. I had to delete all the ActiveX components and then run a repair on KB50726 (making sure the console was closed of course :o)

Many thanks for all your help Jim, much appreciated
