In above figure, current date is 8/17/2012, the virus definition date is 4/5/2012. I click "LiveUpdate..", and it runs without any problem. After that, UI still shows "Virus and spyware protection definitions are out of date" and the definition date doesn't change.

 Before that, I have restore my system with some software.

Could I delete some file or registry hives, and make your updating UI display normally?

Do you have restart your system ?

stop and start the smc services, or reboot your machine and also try to run a repair on your machine.\

Also check your systems time and date.

Could be cosmetic/gui issue...

try deleting the definition files, you can also try Rx4fefs.

As per the Screenshot, I see it is downloading only catalog files only and not the AV/AS definitions.

Is that unmanaged client going to the interenet LiveUpdate servers to look for its updates, or is it configured to look in an internal source?  (Perhaps a LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x server on your network?)

Examining the log.lue will reveal more details about where it is looking.

Reboot system, change time to correct. I try all the ways, but the issue still there.

I tried this link

Delete the following values:

1. SRTSP
2. NAVCORP_70
3. DEFWATCH_10
4. SepCache3
5. SepCache2
6. SepCache1

 In addition, I failed to find the folder "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Definitions\VirusDefs\", but I do delete two folders named "VirusDefs" under "C:\ProgramData\".   

  After finishing all these steps, I only get below error message:

"File System Auto-Protect is not functioning correctly. Your protection definitions may be damaged or your product installation may be corrupt."

   Thus, I hope Symantec website guys update their webpage and test it after that, so I can get a correct instruction to fix my issue.

I install Endpoint and then install a factory recovery software. Create a factory recovery point and recover the computer to the previous point. Even I followed your instructions. The definition still remains in April. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

As per log SEP Client not Resloved SEP live update server.

* REQUEST_ERROR - error 12007 (0x00002EE7), result API_SEND_REQUEST. File: minitri.flg
  Server selection failed for server HTTP://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com/ on port 80.
* FTP: Unable to resolve the name of the server. Error=12007
  Server selection failed for server FTP://update.symantec.com/opt/content/onramp on port 21.
* Download Error for minitri.flg. SERVER DOES NOT EXIST or some network issue.
* Host name resolution error while downloading minitri.flg. UNABLE TO RESOLVE HOST NAME.
* Server selection failure; will now attempt to select server via explicit name resolution.

As per the logs your client is not able to resolve the host name for liveupdate site, i would suggest you to try few things

1>Make sure there is no proxy in your network.

2>Make sure the host file that you are using is the default one, the location for host file is "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc"

3>try to open the site directly from the browser on the machine "HTTP://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com/"  if this site is opening properly then I think your issue should get resolved

try and resolve the DNS issue on the system. :)

It's possible you can allow Full internet in this system and check live update ?

All ports are allow ...........

  From my testing result, End Point retail version is OK, but OEM version has the above issue.

  Reinstalling the software seems solve the OEM-version problem.
