Thaks.  I thought the server was 2008 R2 which I thought only comes in 64-bit.  I apologize for the interruption.

Hi Pete,

Unfortunately it is still not working :-| somehow I still got the pop up saying that error message (as in the title).

I have already disabled the UAC.

Hi,

Run a repair install from Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.msi from the downloaded software. Make sure UAC is turned off.

Also check whether java 6 20 is installed. If not install it & then run a repair using msi

Server 2008 R2 Std x64 SP1 Domain Controller.  Logged in with my user account, which is in Domain Admins group, and I get the error.  Right-click and "Run As Administrator" still get the error.  Tried the suggestion by PortlandGirl "Update Content" no luck. Logged in with the equivalant of a local Administrator account and it works now.

I'm not sure why I got this error.  UAC is off.  SEPM had been working fine. This morning, I got the error mentioned above. Server 2008 R2 Std x64.  I restarted the services, updated Java and rebooted machine.  No change.  I ran repair and that resolved the issue.

Once back in SEPM though--even after waiting for a couple of hours--only a few machines were communicating with the consol. Resolved that issue by doing the following. On clients tab, right-click group>> Run Command on Group>> Update Content.
