Ghost client error c0000005 resolved in build 2298.

Good news for those experiencing the c0000005 errors with the Ghost client in Windows and PE. This issue has been resolved in build 2298 of Ghost 2.5.1. Several customers have tested it and have reported back that the issue is no longer occuring. You can get the certified patch from Technical Support. The readme is attached.

This issue is documented in the following technotes: TECH145391, TECH132035 and TECH122740.

I am not sure any one in this forum knows the answer for that. Probably you need to contact tech support and get it clarified on your licenses query.

Hi. I just experienced this problem the other day. The error c0000005 occured first when I was installing remote client on a machine. Later when I tried to restore an image on another machine, I got the same error. Our version is 2266. I read that in order to get the patches 2269 and 2298 you need to contact tech support. I am the network administrator on a school and we have about 2000 licences. The support contract, however is outdated. Do we have to buy support on all the licences to get to speak to tech support to qualify for the patches?

I am looking in to this for a customer today. This is a known issue and can be fixed using build 2298 and 2269 as per http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH145391

To get a copy, you must have a valid support contract, or request a Symantec Pre-Sales Engineer to raise a support case for you.

I buy the product this morning at 10. a.m. with symanrec support

First try, first problem (Ghost client error c0000005)

I see in this forum that a solution is existing, then I call support and they request my xx digits support.

Of course I did not receive the support number yet (still processing somwhere...) manual processing, I guess.

Impossible to negotiate with the girl in order to have a answer ! even with a order confirmation number.

She redirect me in the customer care, the the girl sey it's impossible to request support because it takes 72 hours to the re-seller to send information. I just said that I buy from Symantec website and not in a re-seller.

Then I ask to speak to a mananger. No way !!!.

In short:

It existing a patch for a known problem (bug) that is not include in the last software release (downloaded this morning).

In addition you have to pay support in order to have the problem fixed.

In addition  you have to wait 72 hours in order to make a buyed (with known problem) software working.

So what if I didn't bought support !

Form now I decided to stop to grumble to @Microsoft, I just found a better companie :-)

There is a link to a sticky posting at the top of this forum which tells you how to contact Support for any patches and also mentions that you need to have a support agreement to qualify for the patch.

How about the customers who need the patch that cannot contact technical support due to they do not have support?

Just had a customer about it and he really needs the patch like its a matter of life and death. =(

what happened to my customer was he called customer care to get  gss 2.5 2298 patch.

customer care transfer the call to technical support of symantec then technical support transfered him back to customer care.

Now how can we help the customer????!!!!!! can anyone please please provide me a patch for 2298 for my customer.

Hi,

This is not via Live Update. You need to contact tech support to avail this patch.

How do users get this build? It is on LiveUpdate, or does it have to be requested?
