Computers which aren't reporting inventory to NS - 'N' Days

Dec 16, 2014 08:07 AM

Very often user wants to know and see list of managed endpoints, which aren't reporting their basic inventory to NS Server - Last 'N' Days

  • Attached "Computers which are not reporting basic inventory _ already last 'N' days.xml" report is created on SMP 7.5 SP1 HF4 (Should for 7.5.x as well)
  • Attached "Computers which are not reporting basic inventory _ already last 'N' days (7.1 SP2 MP1.1 v10).xml" is created on 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 v10 and should work for 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 vx versions.

How to import existing .xml report

  • Open SMP Console -> go to "Reports" -> mouse right click menu on root "Reports" folder -> click "Import" -> choose required .xml -> click "OK".

  • You can edit SQL Query via "Edit" mode for imported report.

What version of Notification Server you are using now?

If you have 7.6 HF7 or higher, then you can click on Agent health summary pie chart for "Needs Attention" -> in right pane will appears a list of these computers -> above you can click on "View Filter Results" and export this data or click on "Edit SQL" and create custom report to see all computers with "Needs Attention" state.

Maybe you are already know that there is very useful place in ITMS view where you can see health state of all your managed/unmanaged/untracked client computers

I created my own report referenced here to solve the issue of the Altiris reports not providing enough data to make a informed decesion. It is vitial is to see last user, physical location and status if you track it.

Retirement of a computer by Altiris rule should be one of the last things that you do. You as owner of the ITSM should be managing what gets removed from your mangement scope.

There are places in SMP Console, which can be used to get such information (CMS 7.5 SP1 HF4):

  • Open SMP Console ⇒ "Manage" ⇒ "Automation Policies" ⇒ There you will see "Inactive Machine" policy, which can be scheduled and you will receive mail notification about inactive machine(s) on your NS.
  • Open SMP Console ⇒ "Home" ⇒ "My Portal" ⇒ click "Edit" ⇒ expand "Notification Server Management" folder ⇒ click on "Computers Not Reporting" ⇒ click "Add" and save changes.

Thanks,

IP.

Great ! Thanks !!!

I have opened a case a few days ago about a report to help me detecting old machines and change their status.

I hope it will be included in next HF or release ;)

Hi Scott!

Please try separate  "Computers which are not reporting basic inventory _ already last 'N' days (7.1 SP2 MP1.1 v10).xml"

You had this problem with previous .xml, because query requires "vComputerIdentification" view, although in 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 it isn't available. I've changed it to "vComputer".

Thanks,

IP.
