Notification Server 6 Agent for Macintosh Update for Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6

An update that provides support for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) by the Notification Server 6.2 Agent for Macintosh is now available. This update allows 10.5 and 10.6 clients to be managed by an NS and for retrieval of Basic Inventory from these clients. This only updates the agent. The solutions, i.e., Inventory and Software Delivery, do not support Snow Leopard.

Supported platforms: 

Previously supported Mac OS X versions will remain the same: 10.2.8 – 10.4.X. New platforms with agent-only support in this addon are:

Mac OS X 10.5 (ppc and x86)
Mac OS X Server 10.5 (ppc and x86)
Mac OS X 10.6 (Intel only platform)
Mac OS X Server 10.6 (Intel only platform)

Prerequisite: NS 6.0.6074 with Altiris Agent for Mac 6.2.1302.

To update an NS:
  1. Copy the attached zip file, Altiris_MacAgent_6_2.zip, to a temporary location on the Notification Server.
  2. Extract the installation file from the zip file.
  3. Run the installation file, Altiris_MacAgent_6_2.exe. 
Changes include:
  1. New collections for 10.5 and 10.6 Macintosh clients
  2. A new agent installation package (...\nscap\bin\Mac\Agent_KB48745)
  3. New platforms in the “Select a Platform” dropdown list on push/install page
  4. Agent installation logic modifications to accept these platforms
  5. Install a new version of the \program files\common files\Altiris\aexputty.dll (See KB #33856.).
