Endpoint Protection

Issue:- Failed to connect to server- session has timed out while loging into the SEPM

Symptoms:

-Tried to logon to SEPM and service is stopping when tried to logon to console
The Scm server0.log under %Prog file%/symantec/Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager/Tomact/Logs will have the following entry

2009-02-19 05:30:56.296 SEVERE: Unknown Exception in: com.sygate.scm.server.consolemanager.RequestHandler
com.sygate.scm.server.util.ScmServerError: Can't read local server from database!
 at com.sygate.scm.server.consolemanager.AdminAuthenticator.authenticate(AdminAuthenticator.java:134)
 at com.sygate.scm.server.consolemanager.requesthandler.LoginHandler.doLogin(LoginHandler.java:157)
 at com.sygate.scm.server.consolemanager.requesthandler.LoginHandler.getCredential(LoginHandler.java:115)
 at com.sygate.scm.server.consolemanager.requesthandler.LoginHandler.handleRequest(LoginHandler.java:49)
 at com.sygate.scm.server.consolemanager.RequestHandler.handleRequest(RequestHandler.java:112)

Solution:-

1>Click Start > All Programs > Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager > Management server configration Wizard
2>Where it will say the local server name i.e kavish in this case we can change the server name with the IP address (of the same server)
3>Follow the wizard & put in all the required information correctly once the wizard is completed you will get the log in screen
4>Put in the correct login Credentials & the issue would be resolved
